McCornack is getting a covered area added to the playground!: We are excited to announce that McCornack is adding a brand-new covered area to our back playground! Construction is now underway and will continue through July. This addition will give our students a much-needed year-round play and gathering space, creating more opportunities for outdoor activities regardless of the weather.
New Name for Our Neurodivergent Student Affinity Group:
We are excited to share that our student affinity group formerly known as Dandelions and
Sunflowers Alliance (DSA) has officially changed its name to the Neurodivergent Student
Union (NSU).
This change was made to better align with the naming conventions of our other McCornack
student-led organizations, such as the Black Student Union (BSU) and Latino Student Union
(LSU). While the name is new, our commitment remains the same: providing a supportive,
inclusive space for our neurodivergent students to connect, share experiences, and lead.
We look forward to seeing everyone back for the new year on Thursday, January 15th.
*NSU will now meet BIWEEKLY
Thank you,
Kim DeLeon & Morgan Fossen
Family Bingo Night:
Happy Friday, McCornack Families!
We hope you had a restful winter break and that your year is off to a great start. The McCornack Busy Bees PTO would like to invite you to our first social event of 2026: Bingo Night! Join us on Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria for a Texas Roadhouse and potato bar dinner followed by as many rounds of Bingo as we can fit in by 8pm. We'll have prizes! This event is for the whole family and entirely free, and we'd love to see you there!
If you're able to be an event volunteer or donate dinner/bingo supplies, please take a look at our volunteer form and sign up wherever you can. Donations can be dropped off in the school office any school day through Friday, January 16th.
We're very excited and ready to have fun-- and maybe even win a couple cool prizes! But most of all, we'd love to see your smiling faces. Thank you for all the support you've shown the PTO-- we appreciate you! Have a wonderful weekend,
the MCC Busy Bees PTO
School Choice:
It’s School Choice Time
See what our schools offer!
In Eugene School District 4J, students may request to enroll in any school. School choice requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery.
January is school choice season: Virtual school choice visits and in-person school visits are scheduled in the month of January. 4J residents must submit a request form between January 15 and February 15 to be included in the annual school choice lottery. Non-district residents must submit a request form for an interdistrict transfer between March 1 and March 31 to be included in the lottery.
Who needs to apply: All students who wish to enroll in a new school other than their neighborhood school must submit a school choice request form. This includes:
incoming siblings of current students.
students who have moved out of our school neighborhood or the district and want to remain enrolled next year. Their enrollment is not automatic and not all schools are open to non-district resident transfer requests.
fifth grade students who want to enroll in a non-neighborhood middle school.
Who does not need to apply: If your student is already enrolled in our school and has not moved, you do not need to submit a request form to continue attending our school next year.
See our schools: If you or any of your friends are interested in exploring your school choice options, all 4J schools will hold virtual visits and in-person info sessions with an opportunity to ask questions during the month of January. Additionally, the district is holding school choice information sessions on:
In-Person: Thursday, January 15, 6 p.m. - in Spanish - 4J Ed Center, 200 N. Monroe (Tower Room)
Visit www.4j.lane.edu/schoolchoice for details.
McCornack Virtual: Tuesday, January 13th, 10 a.m. (Link to Virtual Session)
McCornack In-Person: January 15th, 10:00 a.m AND January 15th, 4:00 p.m.

Safe Routes to School Bicycle Donation Drive:
McCornack’s Regional Safety Team: We would like to introduce Darin Lomsdalen and Guy Okili da Graca. Guy and Darin are part of 4j’s Regional School Safety Team. As campus monitors, Darin and Guy work closely with staff, students, and families to help ensure a welcoming, secure, and supportive environment across all Churchill-area campuses.
Their daily work includes greeting students, maintaining positive visibility throughout school grounds, responding to safety needs, and helping uphold an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels seen and supported. Don’t hesitate to stop and introduce yourself to Guy and Darin when you see them in our community!

Our Character focus for the month of January is Courage: “I am excited to take risks and try new things”
The Bee Jamboree choices this month will be: Hot Cocoa VS Winter Craft Party
